But they are bound together in at least five respects: (1) they are particularly drawn toward Paul’s theology of gift/grace, as the shape or pattern of the whole of Pauline theology; (2) they seek to position Paul within Judaism in a way that goes beyond Sanders’s Paul and Palestinian Judaism, while building on Sanders’s determination to refute Christian caricatures of ancient or modern Judaism; (3) they draw on elements of the “New Perspective”
